CBSE class 12 board exams canceled, says PM Modi

CBSE latest update: CBSE class 12 board exams canceled, says PM Modi due to the COVID situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the cancelation of the Class 12 board examination after the meeting today chaired by PM Narendra Modi.

Officials made a detailed presentation on the extensive and consultation conducted thus far and the views received from all stakeholders, including state governments.

The Prime Minister directed the CBSE to take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students according to well-defined objective criteria and with a time limit.

Like last year, for those students who wish to take the exams, CBSE will provide such an option for them.

Decisions made by PM Narendra Modi for Students

  • The health and safety of our students are of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect.
  • The possibility of the CBSE board exams will end due to the anxiety among students, parents, and teachers.
  • Exams cannot be the reason to put our youth at risk.
  • Not to force students to appear in examinations in this stressful situation.

Meeting conducted by Prime Minister

The Prime Minister had previously held a high-level meeting on May 21.

Today’s meeting was attended by the trade union ministers of the Interior, Defense, Finance, Trade, Information and Broadcasting.

The Ministries of Petroleum and Women and Child Development and the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Secretary.

The Secretaries of School Education and Higher Education Departments, and other officials also attended this meeting.

Thereafter, the meeting was chaired by PM Narender Modi

The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh also attended this meeting.

“Government of India has decided to cancel the Class XII CBSE Board Exams. After extensive consultations, we have taken a decision that is student-friendly, one that safeguards the health as well as future of our youth,” the prime minister said in a tweet. 

Be sensitive towards Students

While announcing the cancelation of CBSE class 12 board exams, PM Modi said that all stakeholders need to show sensitivity to students.
